Biography:

I was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho in 1987.

In 1998, I began to teach myself how to play guitar. The greatest encouragement came in the form of guitars that I received from both of my grandfathers.

My musical years in high school were split between various projects, including jazz band, aiding the teacher in my school's guitar class, and writing and recording an album with my rock band.

After high school I attended Idaho State University, where I fell in love with classical guitar music of the Spanish Romantic Era. This led me to pursue a master's degree in classical guitar performance at Northern Arizona University.

I moved to Seattle after graduating and there I solidified my teaching techniques for multiple instruments and styles. It was at this time that the two worlds of my musical life, that of a self‐taught beginner and an academic master, united into an approach for instrumental learning that is both fun and challenging.

In 2018, I became the professor of classical guitar studies at Idaho State University. There I taught lessons for both majors and non‐majors, individuals and groups, in addition to non‐performance classes.

In August of 2022, I moved to Moorhead, MN with my wife. Since moving here, I have performed with multiple musicals and a couple of bands.

I am excited to teach at Schmitt Music and help cultivate the wealth of talent that is prominent in this area.
