Jimmy is a trumpet player with 15 years of experience regarding classical and jazz music. During his time at Sibley-Ocheyedan High School, he was in the Iowa All-State Jazz Band for 3 consecutive years as the lead player as well as Iowa All-State Band in 2010 of which only 3% of applicants are selected. While studying at the University of South Dakota, Jimmy took part in many auditioned ensembles. Those of which include: Symphonic Band (4 years), Chamber Singers (2 years), Jazz 2 (Lead player for 2 years), Jazz 1 (Lead and Soloist for 2 years), and Brass Choir (3 years). In addition to being full-time music student, Jimmy utilized his summers to perform with DCI (Drum Corps International). He spent 3 years playing lead trumpet with the Blue Stars Drum & Bugle Corps, originating from La Crosse, Wisconsin. During his final and 4th year, he aged out still playing lead trumpet with the Blue Knights Drum & Bugle Corps, originating from Denver, Colorado. Jimmy recently expanded his musical vocabulary by playing professionally with Mariachi Zapata, a mariachi group here in Omaha, Nebraska, which he does to this day.
