Biography:

Jenny Slivinski has taught with Schmitt Music since 2008. She is a passionate music educator and performer that believes in developing a well-rounded musician. Through the development of solid fundamentals, she aims to develop the full artist from the inside out. She strives to nurture individual creativity and expression with the understanding that each student has his or her own voice and unique purpose with the instrument. She is also a strong advocate of complete body awareness: how the entire body aids in the process of creating the ideal sound and how best to use the body in order to avoid pain and unnecessary tensions. Using these ideas, she actively collaborates with each student to form a plan that will nurture their love and enjoyment of music, while meeting their individual performance goals.

She earned a B.A. in Music with an emphasis in Flute and Business Administration from the University of Minnesota Duluth in 2006 and is currently pursuing continuing education and graduate work.

Jenny regularly performs with the Hopkins Westwind Concert Band and The Silverwinds Flute Choir and is an active pit orchestra musician. She is an executive board member of UMFA (Upper Midwest Flute Association) and an active member of NAfME (The National Association for Music Education).
